Roberta Louis, Founder and Treasurer

Roberta began her studies in shamanism in the late 1980s, and has been fortunate to sit in ceremony over the years with shamans and practitioners of many traditions. During the early days of her career, she worked at a major university in the fields of personnel, financial management, and administration of computer systems. From 1989 to 2010, she served as an editor at Shaman’s Drum, eventually becoming managing editor. She was an editor at Well Being Journal for over 20 years, and is currently managing editor for the Price-Pottenger Journal of Health and Healing. She has also edited a number of books on shamanic and spiritual topics. Roberta is a writer, storyteller, and flute player.  

Jerry Wagner, President

Jerry’s lifelong journey in pursuit of spiritual and shamanic wisdom began in the late 1960s, when he was introduced to hatha yoga by Swami Satchidananda and to Sufism by Pir Vilayat Inayat Khan. Over the following decades, he traveled—sometimes on foot over challenging terrain—to meet and study with spiritual people of various traditions, including Buddhist monks in Nepal and shamans in the Andes. In the United States, he studied for almost 30 years with a Northwest Coast shaman. Jerry is a trained flutemaker, drummaker, storyteller, and Reiki practitioner.

Michael Diamond, Vice President

Michael has experience in organizational development, youth program development, audio and video documentation of indigenous ceremonies, and media production. He holds a degree in audio engineering and multimedia production from Evergreen State College and is a graduate of the Bastyr University Hypnotherapy Professional Training Program. His interests include: art, music, linguistics, community development, peace/conflict resolution, spirituality, personal development, social entrepreneurship, and local and global community building.

Margaret M. Riordan, PhD, IfCM, Secretary

eric maya joy

eric maya joy has been working with nonprofit organizations for over 30 years. He cofounded a nonprofit school for children and is an active participant in the Religious Society of Friends, where he is a founding member of the Friends Committee on Unity with Nature. He has traveled extensively, learning from indigenous peoples and speaking on topics such as spirituality, community, and communication. He also has experience in computer languages and systems design.
